Yemen is located in Southwest Asia at the southern tip of the Arabian Peninsula. It occupies an area of 527,968 km per square, and the coastline expands to 1906 km. the capital of Yemen is Sana’a.

Brief history of Yemen
Yemen has a long and eventful historical background which goes back to as long as 750 – 15 BC and the 1200 – 650 BC starting with the kingdoms Sabaean and Minaean. This was a time when trade formed the primary mode around which society was centered. The Romans were the first to invade Yemen in the 1st century BC.

This invasion was followed by invasions from the Persians and the Ethiopians in the 6th century. In the 10th century, Yemen converted into an Islamic country when it was ruled by the Rassite dynasty which is an important and powerful part of the Zaidi sect. This dynasty remained in total control and power in Yemen affecting the politics of the country till the year 1960.

There was also the Ottoman Empire, which had quite an influence and control over Yemen during the period 1538 to 1918. However due to having different political allegiance; Yemen was primarily dissected into the north Yemen and the south Yemen.

Who did Yemen get their independence from?
North Yemen gained independence from the clutches of the Ottoman Empire in the year 1918. This independence converted Yemen into a religion drove political force which finally came to an end due to a military overthrow in the year 1962.
