India occupies an area of 1269219 kilometers per square and has a coastline equal to 4350 miles. India measures 3,214 km from north to south and 2,933 km from east to west. Arabian Sea lies to the west of India, the Bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean lie to the east and south of India.

It has a rich cultural and historical background
During the 2600 BC in the fertile Indus Valley, India is said to have its first settlements and in 1500 BC settlements were established along the Ganga valley as well. These settlements were mainly inclusive of Dravidians who based their economic growth on the basis of agriculture and commerce. The Aryans came into the picture right after when they migrated into India right from the northeast and invaded the place.
They were also said to be the first ones to establish the concept of caste systems which is still prevalent in many places in India. Again, the great Alexander, in the 4th century BC, started Greek practices in India while he was expanding his region in central Asia. Finally in the 3rd century BC, India gained maximum success under the Mauryan Empire, particularly headed by emperor Ashoka.

There were many other invasions and change of rulers in India, namely the Arab, Mongol and Turkish with the Mongol empire finally being established in the year 1526. The Mughal Empire successfully rules over the northern parts of India. They introduce new culture and practices in India. Lots of monuments were built during their reign, the Taj Mahal being one of them.

India is also said to have the largest and the most successful democracy in the entire world.
