Brief history of Ghana
The Republic of Ghana during the ancient times was used by the British as a business center. Way back in the 15th century most of the European powers fought amongst themselves so as to capture this region because if they could capture Ghana, then trading would become easier and more profitable. Ultimately in the 19th century, the British succeeded in getting the trading rights of this country. Until the starting of the 11th century, Ghana was mostly uninhabited and unoccupied by humans.

But nevertheless, present day Ghana has seen many population movements. The main inhabitants of Ghana were the Akan kingdoms, and they mainly occupied the southern and the central territories. The kingdom of Ashanti was the strongest of all the kingdoms that dominated in that region. While it acted as a loose network in the beginning but gradually it became a centralized government The Ashanti kingdom developed a specialized bureaucracy in this region. Before the British intervention, the people had their own trading system which involved gold and gold bar commodities.

Ghana became the first country in sub-Saharan Africa to gain independence in 06 March 1957.
